Silence can be loud
Hey everyone,
This year, I’m taking on a challenge that means a lot to me — I’ll be sitting in a 2-metre square box for 20 hours, with no technology, no talking, and no distractions. Just me, my thoughts, a journal, and a chair.
I’m doing this to raise funds and awareness for 20Talk, a mental health charity that’s making real change for young people — by making mental health education relatable, engaging, and accessible.
This challenge isn’t just a test of endurance. For me, it’s personal. Like so many others, I’ve been impacted by mental health struggles — both my own and through people I care about. It can be dark, lonely, and incredibly isolating. This challenge is a small glimpse into what that can feel like, but it’s also a statement: we can do better, and we have to do better.
The reality is confronting:
💔 Suicide is still the leading cause of death for young people aged 15–44.
💔 Only 2% of mental health funding goes towards prevention (Mental Health Commission, 2022).
That’s why I’m taking part in the 20 Hours for 20Talk Challenge — to help turn those statistics around and push for real change.
Your donations go directly towards:
💡 Funding 20Talk’s Mental Health Maintenance course — $120 gives a young person the skills to look after their wellbeing.
📱 Expanding their online resources and 60,000+ strong social media community.
🎤 Running large, interactive mental health events that break stigma and start conversations.
Together, we can change the story. By improving mental health literacy, normalising tough conversations, and encouraging help-seeking early, we can stop people from reaching crisis point in the first place.
Thank you so much for your support — whether it’s through donating, sharing, or just checking in. This isn’t just a 20-hour challenge for me — it’s about creating real, lasting change.
If you ever need someone to talk to, please know I’m always here 💙
Love you all, and thank you again for helping make a difference.
