In order to raise funds for mental health charity 20Talk, I'm going to take on the challenge of sitting in a 2 metre square box for 20 hours with no technology and no talking. This challenge will be a small look into the day of someone struggling with mental health. All I will have is my own thoughts, a journal and a chair to sit on.

So why am I doing this?

We have all been touched in some way or another by the reality of mental health. It can be dark, lonely, and confronting.

Structurally, the statistics are still alarming..

Suicide still remains the leading cause of death for young people aged 15-44.
Only 2% of mental health funding goes towards prevention (Mental Health Commission 2022)

I'm completing the 20 Hours for 20Talk to turn these statistics around. Your contribution goes towards 20Talk's relatable prevention campaigns. They are a mental health charity that makes education cool and accessible, for young people by young people.

Your generous donations go towards:

Every $120 puts a young person through a one day Mental Health Maintenance cours
Expanding 20Talk's online resources and 60,000+ social media community
Running large-scale interactive mental health events

By improving mental health literacy, removing harmful stigma, and encouraging professional help-seeking we are preventing people from getting people into crisis in the first place.

20Talk Limited – Event Waiver

Definitions
20Talk means 20Talk Ltd (ABN 50 643 936 690) and its directors, affiliates, officers,
employees, agents, volunteers, contractors, successors and assigns;
Consequential Loss means any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss or
damage, pure economic loss damages and exemplary or punitive damages, loss or
damage in relation to loss of use, loss of production, loss of revenue, loss of profits or
anticipated profits, loss of business, loss of business opportunity, loss of contract, loss
of reputation or opportunity, business interruptions of any nature, loss of data, data
corruption rectification costs or loss or damage resulting from wasted management
time;
Event means the '20 Hours for 20Talk' fundraiser event to be conducted by 20Talk and
held at the Claremont Showgrounds on the 29th of March 2025., as described on 20Talk's website;
Harm means death, personal injury, psychological trauma, liability of any kind, loss of
any kind or damage of any kind (including property damage);
Participant means a person participating in the Event;
Terms means the terms and conditions of this Disclaimer for entry into the Event;
Venue means Claremont Showgrounds on the 29th of March;
Venue Operator means the entity operating and in control of the Venue;
"You" and "Your" means the person completing the online registration personally;
2. Registration
2.1 By completing the online registration to participate in the Event, You acknowledge that
You have read the Terms and agree to be bound by them.
2.2 You warrant that that You are 18 years or older and the information You have provided
to 20Talk is true and correct and that You will not use a false name or impersonate
another person in the online registration or in relation to the Event generally.
2.3 You acknowledge that as a Participant You must meet the fundraising minimum of
$1,000 and failure to do so may deem you ineligible and prevent You from participating
in the Event.
2.4 By participating in the Event, the Participant will be deemed to have agreed to these
Terms irrespective of whether these Terms are signed by the Participant.
2.5 20Talk reserve the right, in their absolute discretion, to refuse to allow You to participate
in the Event or to require You to immediately withdraw from the Event and leave the
Venue at any time if You breach these Terms or otherwise where 20Talk determine it
is in the best interests of the Event to do so, and in any such case You will have no
claim against 20Talk for any Harm You may suffer.

3. Liability and waiver

3.1 To the maximum extent permitted by law, 20Talk is not liable to the Participant, the
Venue Operator or any other person and accepts no liability (including, without
limitation, any liability arising from fault or negligence) in respect of any loss (including
Consequential Loss), liability, claim, damage or expense whatsoever arising from, in
connection with or in relation to the Event (irrespective of whether caused or
contributed to by 20Talk).
3.2 The Participant expressly waives, releases and discharges 20Talk from and against
any and all liability for any loss (including Consequential Loss), damage, injury,
expense, demand or cause of action that they may suffer or sustain with respect to
personal and mental injury, death, damage to or destruction of property, theft or
otherwise that may arise directly or indirectly or results from any act or omission in
relation to the Event irrespective of whether:
(a) the liability for the loss or damage arises in or under contract (including liability
under any indemnity), statute, tort (including negligence), equity or otherwise at
Australian law; or
(b) the Participant or any other person previously notified 20Talk of the loss, the
possibility of the loss, or damage.

4. Risks
4.1 You acknowledge that attending or participating in the Event has inherent risks that
may result in You suffering Harm.
4.2 You acknowledge and agree that isolation of the nature to be experienced by the
Participant can be dangerous and that accidents causing Harm can and do happen
and may happen to You.
4.3 You agree that You freely choose to participate in the Event and when deciding to
participate on the day of the Event You must take into account the activities that You
will be required to perform on that day and Your physical and mental ability to undertake
those activities on that day.
5. Medical treatment
5.1 You understand that You have disclosed to us any health issues that impact on your
participation and in the unlikely event you may be required to receive medical
treatment, You consent to receive and pay for any medical treatment (including without
limitation, ambulance or emergency transportation) which is considered by 20Talk to
be advisable or deemed reasonable before, during or after the Event and agree to
indemnify and keep indemnified 20Talk for all costs associated with this medical
treatment.
6. Indemnity
The Participant (Indemnifying Party) respectively indemnifies and must keep
indemnified 20Talk against all actions, claims, proceedings, demands, liabilities,
losses, damages, expenses and costs (including legal costs on a full indemnity basis)
that may be brought against 20Talk or which 20Talk may pay, sustain or incur as a
direct or indirect result of any wrongful, wilful or negligent act or omission of the
Indemnifying Party arising in relation to the Event.

7. Privacy
7.1 You consent to 20Talk collecting and using Your name, image and likeness in its
website and social media platforms for promotional and fundraising purposes to the
maximum extent permitted by law.
7.2 You agree that all images or recordings, whether sound, digital or otherwise (Media)
taken at the Event can be used in advertising and promotional materials for 20Talk
provided that all Media will reflect behaviour that is appropriate and will not contain
Your personal details, and 20Talk will remove any Media affecting You where
requested by You.
8. Cancellation of the Event
8.1 You agree that 20Talk may in their sole and absolute discretion cancel or postpone the
Event at any time before or during the conduct of the Event and if that occurs, You will
have no claim for damages or loss of any kind against 20Talk including the refund of
any donations raised or fundraising amounts.
9. Severance
If any provision of these Terms is invalid or unenforceable in any jurisdiction, the
provision is to be read down for the purpose of that jurisdiction, if possible, so as to
ensure these Terms remain valid and enforceable. If the provision cannot be read
down it will be severed to the extent of the invalidity or unenforceability. Such severance
does not affect the remaining provisions of these Terms or affect the validity or
enforceability of it in any other jurisdiction.
10. Governing Law
10.1 This Disclaimer will be construed in accordance with the laws of Western Australia.
10.2 The parties agree and submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in Western
Australia.
