20 Hours For 20Talk

Alan is taking on the 20-hour challenge to support youth mental health and raise awareness about the importance of prevention.

Why?

Hey gang!

WHY?

The WHO predicts that depression will be the world's leading disease by 2030. In my everyday work and volunteering, I've seen first hand what mental health looks like:

It's silent.

It's hidden.

Nobody sees it... Until we come to each other on the verge of tears.

It looks like a cadet who waits at the doorway, and collapses as they spill their challenges. It looks like a stellar student smiling on the outside, but dying from the pressure on the inside.

WHAT?

On June 28th, I'm going to be sitting in a 2m x 2m box for 20 hours in Alexandria. I'll be without my phone, without talking. Just a swag, a journal, a pen, and a seat.

HOW?

As part of this challenge, my goal is to raise $1,000 towards 20Talk’s mission which is to empower young adults aged 18-30 by integrating essential mental health tools and skills into their lives. For example, $200 trains one of our vulnerable youth through a one-day Mental Health Maintenance course.

It's not pretty, but that's why we do it.
