My Why?
Irrespective of my own personal experiences with mental health and loss, I often just think about the simple fact that l'm a mum to a teenager now. A little girl that's almost 14 years old like shit, do you remember being that age and how life felt ? And do you remember how much harder and heavier life got as each year passed ?
I cannot even comprehend the thought of her ever feeling some of the things I have felt in my life time but life is unpredictable and we hold no control over how anyone experiences theirs. No matter how much we want to protect the people we love.
What we do have control over, is educating and creating spaces for teenagers and young adults when life just doesnt make sense.
I live in my head rent-free but everything around us is a distraction from truly sitting with our thoughts and feelings. Technology, socialising, overworking , eating. We don't even realise how easy it is to stay so busy you don't really have to sit with anything for long enough.
