Ash is taking on the 20-hour challenge to support youth mental health and raise awareness about the importance of prevention.

Why This Matters

- 298 Australians aged between 18 and 24 years died by suicide in 2023

- Underfunding in Suicide Prevention — 80% of the population is supported by 2% of mental health prevention funding. (MHC, 2021)

- Poor Relatability – Researchers know the how to foster positive wellbeing but are failing educate young people in a way they can relate to and understand.

- 12,000 calls about suicide were received by Kids Helpline in 2023, documenting 3,893 crisis interventions, nearly half

involving suicide risks

- In 2023, young people aged 15–19 rated their happiness at just 6.2 out of 10, the lowest score in a decade.

What 20Talk is doing

- 92% of people who completed the Mental Health Maintenance course by 20Talk felt more confident in managing stress and maintaining healthy habits

- 85% reported sustained improvements in their wellbeing
