Silent for Hope
As a Youth Worker directly supporting Youth homelessness and mental health, I know how important it is for young people to have the tools and support to create a life where they can thrive. On the front line I see more young people struggling to cope with the difficult thing's life throws at them.
The world health organisation predicts depression to be the world's leading disease by 2030. Yet, 98% of mental health funding goes towards crisis intervention and only 2% goes to prevention. 20Talk is shifting this narrative by providing preventative support and relatable resources to all young people, not only those with diagnosed mental health.
In 2023 alone, 298 young people aged 18–24 died by suicide.
That's why I’m raising money for 20Talk as they directly impart life-changing mental health programs for young people.
I’ll be spending 20 hours in silence, confined to a 2x2 meter square.
No entertainment. No phone. Nothing to distract me. Just a pen and a journal.
Won't be easy, but every hour I sit in silence, creates potential to strengthen a young person's life.
All funds raised will go towards underfunded suicide prevention services, to relatable education for all young people around mental health, and to doing something about the increasing concern that is youth mental health.
Every $200 raised funds a place in their Mental Health Maintenance course — a course proven to build resilience and help people stay well. My goal is to raise $1,200, enough to support 6 young lives.
Donate if you can. Share if you care. Let’s turn silence into something powerful.
Good on ya Billy! Love your work ❤️
