Why I’m Taking on the 20 for 20 Talk Challenge
I’ve signed up for the 20 for 20 Talk Challenge, and if you’re wondering why, it’s simple — I care about mental health, especially for young people.
Over the years working with kids and teens, I’ve seen firsthand how much they carry — pressure from school, social expectations, family challenges, and just the ups and downs of growing up. Some handle it quietly, some act out, and some just need someone to stop and ask, “Are you okay?”
That’s what this challenge is about. Talking about mental health doesn’t need to be awkward or heavy. Sometimes it’s just about being present, showing up, and letting someone know they’re not alone.
I’ve always been interested in how we can support young people to feel confident, connected, and capable — not just in school, but in life. I’ve seen how powerful it is when someone feels heard and valued. And I’ve also seen the difference it makes when a small chat turns into a big step forward.
By doing the 20 for 20 challenge, I want to help keep those conversations going. If sharing stories or simply sitting down to talk can make even one person feel supported, then that’s a win.
We all have a role to play in making mental health something we talk about, so to make that point I will be keeping shut!
