Why I'm Supporting 20talk
Mental health isn’t just something I care about professionally—it’s something I’ve lived through personally.
As a mental health nurse with over 7 years of experience, I’ve worked closely with people from all walks of life—young adults navigating their first major life challenges to older adults facing decades of unspoken pain. Through my work, I’ve seen the incredible difference that support, compassion, and open conversations can make. But long before I became a nurse, I was a young person struggling with my own mental health.
From my teens into my early 20s, I battled anxiety and depression. I know what it’s like to feel overwhelmed, to think you’re alone in what you’re going through, and to struggle in silence. That experience shaped not only who I am, but also why I chose to dedicate my career to mental health.
That’s why raising money for 20talk means so much to me. They focus on youth mental health—creating space for young people to have honest, stigma-free conversations about what they’re going through. Their work empowers the kind of early intervention I wish I had access to when I was younger.
By supporting 20talk, we're not just raising funds—we're helping build a future where no one has to suffer in silence, and where seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness.
20 Talks 20 Hours
Hey Everyone I’m excited to share that on the 6th of September I'm participating in
20 Talk's 20Hours event. This event will see me sitting in a 2x2 meter square for 20Hours in silence with nothing but my swag, a water bottle, a journal and chair. There will be no technology and no talking.
As part of this challenge, my goal is to raise $1,000 towards 20 Talk's mission which is to empower young adults aged 18-30 by integrating essential mental health tools and skills into their lives.
It would be awesome if you could donate to this challenge. I decided to do it because I believe it’s time we start talking about the things we often keep hidden. Mental illness can live behind smiles and silence, and sometimes the strongest people are the ones fighting invisible battles. This challenge is a way for me to not only raise awareness but also to encourage others to check in with their friends, ask the hard questions, and truly listen.
If you’re able to donate, it would mean a lot—not just to me, but to the people this cause supports. Let’s break the silence together. 💙
