Why 20hrs for 20talk?

Hi all,

My name is Grace, and I’ve signed up to take part in the 20hrs Campaign with 20talk.

This challenge involves spending 20 hours in a confined 2-square-metre space — no phone, and no talking. It’s a symbolic but powerful way to shed light on what many people go through in silence: isolation, disconnection, and mental health struggles.

Why am I doing this?
Ever since losing a close friend to suicide, I’ve become painfully aware of how dangerous loneliness can be — especially for young people. It's not always visible, and it's still not talked about enough. But it’s real, and it’s urgent.

20 Hours for 20Talk is more than a challenge—it’s a platform to raise awareness and funds for youth mental health. Founded by young people, for young people, 20Talk aims to normalise conversations around mental health and provide proactive, relatable support. With most funding going to crisis care, they’re working to shift the focus toward prevention and early intervention.

By taking on this challenge, I’m hoping to raise awareness — and raise funds — to support 20talk’s mission. Every dollar donated goes toward mental health education and training programs to help with early intervention.
