You've heard that right! I’m spending 20 hours with just my thoughts.
No phone. No music. No books. No talking.
Just me, myself and I.
Why? Because in support of mental health charity 20Talk, I’m taking on a challenge that’s as confronting as it is important:
20 hours.
A 2-metre square box.
No tech. No talking. Just me, a journal, a chair, a blanket and my thoughts.
The goal is to give a small glimpse into what it can feel like for someone struggling with their mental health. Isolated, alone, and left with only their mind for company.
For me, this is not just a challenge. It is deeply personal.
Many of you know my battles with mental health, including OCD, BFRD, depression, and severe anxiety. There were times I truly believed I was broken beyond repair, and I never want anyone else to feel that way.
I have also seen the devastating effects of mental health struggles in my loved ones. I have lost more than one beautiful friend to suicide, and I have watched others I care about fall into addiction as a way to cope. This challenge is my way of honouring them, raising awareness, and fighting for change.
The reality is heartbreaking: suicide remains the leading cause of death for Australians aged 15–44, and only 2% of mental health funding goes to prevention.
I’m doing this to honour those we’ve lost, to shine a light on mental health, and to fight for a future where no one feels alone.
Every donation helps 20Talk educate, smash stigma, and give young people the tools to seek help before crisis hits.
