A moment of impulsivity

**The 20talk for 20 Hours Challenge** aims to raise awareness and $250,000 for youth mental health scholarships—providing education, tools, and community to young Australians. As we face a global mental health crisis, a proactive approach focused on prevention rather than cure has never been more critical. That’s a cause I wholeheartedly want to get behind.

On the 6th of September, I’ll be sitting in a 2m² box, alongside 400 other people, for 20 hours to raise funds for youth mental health. This incredibly important cause is *horrendously* underfunded—with only 2% of mental health funding directed toward prevention, while the remaining 98% is spent on crisis intervention.

While supporting a cause like this is something I deeply believe in, I’d be absolutely lying if I said I didn’t sign up for this particular challenge during a jetlagged moment of impulsivity. Now that I’m actually signed, sealed, and committed... it’s happening. The reality is sinking in: from 4 a.m. to midnight, I’ll have no phone, no books, no music, and no talking. Just me, a notebook, and my thoughts.

*My thoughts!* With ADHD—the gift that keeps on giving—this means just me, a notebook, and *all* of my thoughts... simultaneously... for *20 whole hours*. Now that I’m contemplating it, that sounds absolutely horrendous. I don’t think I’ve ever been quiet or alone with my thoughts for 20 hours in my life. WTF was I thinking?
