Coming back to yourself.

Also, according to Harvard, healing doesn’t always require trauma — often it’s about learning to identify and heal the smaller, often invisible wounds caused by long-term emotional neglect or burnout.
Try spending just one hour without any screens — no phone, no laptop, no distractions.
Back to the Brush: Healing, Purpose & a $1000 Leap of Faith
For a decade, I stayed away from something I loved deeply — painting.
Not because I didn’t care, but because I didn’t see how it fit into the "practical" idea of life. I wasn’t seeking an art career, and somewhere along the way, I disconnected from it — from myself.
Years passed. I focused on achievements, living abroad, and pushing through life like most of us do — chasing meaning, yet not quite reaching it.
It wasn’t until a chronic injury forced me to return to my hometown — to slow down, reflect, and heal — that I began reconnecting with my inner child. I met the teenage me again: creative, hopeful, and deeply alive. That pause became my turning point.
I finally understood that finding your passion isn't optional — it's essential. It's part of finding your Ikigai, your reason for being.
Therefore, I'm going to take on the challenge of sitting in a 2-metre square box for 20 hours with no technology and no talking. This challenge will be a small look into the day of someone struggling with mental health.
This feels more like a responsibility.
• To show up.
• To speak up.
• For my younger self.
• For others still searching.
• For everyone healing from things they didn’t even know needed healing.
- You don’t need a big trauma to need healing. Sometimes, it’s just the weight of never being fully seen.
If this resonates with you, I’d love for you to be part of this journey:
-
Donate whatever you can — big or small. Every contribution counts.
-
Share this blog with someone who might believe in this vision.
Your generous donations go towards:
- Every $300 puts a young person through a two-day Mental Health First Aid course
- Expanding 20Talk's online resources and 60,000+ social media community
- Running large-scale interactive mental health events
This isn’t just for me. It’s for the inner child in all of us. For the teenagers trying to be brave. For the introverts trying to speak. For the artists who lost their brush but never their spark.
Let’s light it again. Together.
If you ever need to chat, I’m always here. Love you all and thanks again!

Fabulous effort Ravaan. I hear you and want you to know that every effort made by every single person makes a huge difference in supporting teens who need help. I was in a very similar place to you when I was very young and was blessed to meet an amazing mentor who changed my life. Art and the ocean are my passion and they have sustained me for many years now. Keep going and know you can do this x
