🧠Breaking the Silence: Why I’m Sitting Alone for 20 Hours
On September 6th, I’m going to sit in complete silence for 20 hours.
No phone. No talking. No distractions. Just me, a journal, and my thoughts.
I’m doing this as part of 20 Hours for 20Talk, a mental health challenge that raises awareness (and funding) for young adults struggling with their mental health.Â
All funds raised go directly to 20Talk, a not-for-profit that delivers free mental health education, school workshops, and peer support to young people across WA. They're doing incredible work breaking the stigma and providing the tools and conversations that can genuinely save lives.
This cause hits close to home for me. I’ve faced my own battles with mental health, and I know how important it is to feel like you’re not alone. That’s why I’m stepping up—to be part of something bigger and to give back.
I’ve battled with negative thoughts for as long as I can remember. When I was a teenager, things got so dark that I tried to take my own life. Since then, I’ve often used alcohol as a shortcut to happiness—to drown out the noise in my head. It was easier than sitting with myself.
But over the years, I’ve done the work. I’ve kept showing up, trying to rewire how I think and how I see myself. I still fall down—but I keep choosing to stand back up. I know I’m not alone in that fight. And I know far too many people never get the chance to keep going.
I’ve also lost people—family and friends—to suicide. And every time, it leaves a hole. A silence that no one should have to feel.
That’s why I’m doing this.
This challenge is about raising $1,000 or more to support 20Talk’s mental health education programs for young people. They focus on prevention—giving people the tools to understand their minds before things spiral.
Because the truth is:
👉 What’s going on in your head doesn’t define your worth.
👉 Your thoughts aren’t facts.
👉 And you’re not alone, even when your mind tells you otherwise.
So if this post finds you in a dark place, or if you’ve ever felt like your thoughts are running the show—you’re not broken. You’re human. And there is a way forward.
Let’s keep the conversation going. Let’s give the next generation tools we didn’t have growing up.

Love what your doing. Keep it up
