20 HOURS…… MYSELF, MY THOUGHTS, MY WHY.
20Hours , Yep you heard right !I will be participating in this crazy challenge that’s going to test me mentally, emotionally and push me to my limits , but with my determination I hope I can bring more awareness and understanding to youth mental health.
On the 29th of March at Claremont show grounds you will see me take this challenge on with only a swag, Chair, pen, journal and bottle of water.
I will sit in a 2-meter square surrounded by silence and a community full of emotion.
Youth Mental health between the ages of 18-44 is the number one causes of death in Australia.
Trapped behind our phones for more than 5 hours a day has turned our community in to a seen but not heard presence.
The lack of funding is one of the lowest and biggest problems we face with only 2% government help.
This is how you and I can make a difference.
MY WHY.
As most of you are aware, Mental health has become a big part of my life.
After losing my husband to suicide in 2023
And having 3 boys 16,12, 5.
Suicide has become one of my biggest fears,
especially for my boys.
I never want to see my children in that dark place, where they feel they can’t talk and suffer in silence.
The memories and unanswered questions I have, will stay with me for the rest of my life, something I never wish upon anyone.
So, if by me taking on this outrageous challenge gives me a little insight to what mental health can feel like, sitting in a dark place with no conversation only my own thoughts and feelings and I can help raise some funding and awareness for youth mental health, I will feel happy and at peace with myself.
I know my husband would be proud and I’m sure he will be raising a beer to us all.
My aim is to raise $1000 which can make a huge impact, so if you can donate anything big or small towards this fantastic cause
