My Why – 20 Hour 20 Talk
Mental health isn’t something I discovered, it’s something I’ve lived with for as long as I can remember.
I’ve experienced the highs and the lows, battled depression and anxiety, and continue to work through it every day. It’s part of my journey, and it’s what drives me to not only support myself, but others around me.
I’ve been lucky to have a strong support system, but not everyone does, especially our youth. Too many young people are struggling in silence, without the tools or support they need.
As a mum to two young boys, this matters deeply to me. I want them to grow up understanding mental health, feeling safe to speak up, and having the compassion to support others.
That’s why I’m doing the 20 Hour 20 Talk, to raise awareness, start conversations, and help make a difference.
20 Hours of Silence for Youth Mental Health.
I’m taking on the 20 Hours for 20Talk Challenge 💛
I’ll be sitting in a 2×2 metre square, alongside 400 others, with no talking and no technology for 20 hours, a small glimpse into the isolation many people with mental health challenges feel every day.
Mental health affects all of us, yet:
• Suicide is the leading cause of death for ages 15–44
• Only 2% of funding goes to prevention
I’m doing this to help change that.
