20 Hours of Silence for Youth Mental Health.
One of the biggest reasons I want to take part in the 20Talk challenge is for the opportunity to spend intentional time with myself.
Over the past few years, I’ve been on a significant personal healing journey. Through therapy, self-reflection, and the work I now do as a facilitator, I’ve learned how important it is to slow down, sit with discomfort, and create space to truly listen to yourself. A year ago, I don’t think I would have been ready for something like this. Today, I feel I’m in a place where I can embrace the experience rather than fear it.
Twenty hours without speaking, distractions or technology feels like a rare opportunity to reflect, reconnect and continue growing. I know it won’t necessarily be easy, but I believe some of the most meaningful insights come when we’re willing to be still.
The fact that this challenge also raises awareness and support for mental health makes it even more meaningful. Mental health is something I’m deeply passionate about, both personally and professionally. I have the privilege of helping people slow down, regulate their nervous systems and reconnect with themselves. To be able to challenge myself while also contributing to a cause that helps others feels incredibly aligned.
I see this as an opportunity to give back, continue my own growth, and hopefully inspire others to recognise the importance of looking after their mental wellbeing.
