About Me!
My name is Di. I have lived with depression for as long as I can remember. When my son was born with Autism, the journey to support him led to my own diagnosis of ADHD. That moment changed everything. For the first time, I understood why I struggled in ways others didn’t, why certain things felt impossible, and why I had spent so many years feeling out of place in my own life.
Before that understanding came, I turned to drugs and alcohol to numb the pain of feeling “different.” Recovery saved my life. Seventeen years on, recovery is not just something I do, it’s the foundation I stand on. It opened the door to a spiritual path that gave me the greatest gift I’ve ever known: peace.
Today, as a Mental Health Community Support Worker, I get to share my story with the people I support. I get to turn my lived experience into wisdom, compassion, and hope. I get to show others that healing is possible, that understanding is possible, and that they are not alone.
Mental health matters. It matters because people matter. It matters because stories like mine and stories like theirs deserve to be heard. That’s why I’m doing this challenge. That’s why I speak openly. This is my purpose.
