20Hours for 20Talk….I’m doing it!
In order to raise funds for youth mental health charity 20Talk, on Saturday 28 March 2026, I’ll be one of several participants spending 20 hours in complete silence at the Claremont Showgrounds, confined to a two-metre square space. That means no talking (a huge challenge for me) and no access to technology, including mobile phones. All I will have with me is a chair to sit on, a swag, a journal and a pen as well as my own thoughts creating space for intentional reflection in solidarity with others taking part. It will no doubt be confronting and uncomfortable, but also deeply powerful. I’ll be pushing myself to complete the full challenge from 4:00am through to midnight.
So why am I doing this?
Mental health matters to me because it touches every one of us through our own experiences or those we love. Supporting this cause helps create a future where young people feel seen, supported and are equipped with essential mental health tools and skills.
