20 Hours of Silence
I am taking on the 20 Hours of Silence Challenge to raise money and awareness for youth mental health, for every person who has ever struggled in silence.
Mental health does not discriminate. At different times in our lives, any one of us can experience sadness, anxiety, loneliness, fear, overwhelm or a sense that life has simply become too heavy. Sometimes those struggles are visible, but so often they are not.
Twenty hours of silence is only a small gesture, but perhaps within that silence there is an opportunity to reflect on how much may be happening beneath the surface of the people around us.
We are all human. We all struggle. We all need understanding, connection and compassion, sometimes far more than anyone else may ever realise.
I am doing this challenge for the young people who are struggling today, and for the hope that we can create a world where asking for help feels safe, where nobody feels they have to suffer alone, and where we offer one another endless compassion.
Be kind. Listen. Reach out. And never underestimate how much your presence in someone else's life might matter.
