I'll be sitting in silence for 20hrs to reconnect with myself and a wider purpose...I am taking on this challenge to support the work of 20Talk, a mental health charity that provides mental health education to young adults aged 18-30.Everything is so fast-paced these days... our society is crisis-driven and reactive, especially to mental ill-health. 20Talk provides relatable mental health education to young adults, with a focus on building resilience for the inevitable challenges in life. This proactive and modern educational apporach is what I like about 20Talk.
I am looking forward to sharing the space with people from different backgrounds, crossing paths to pause and reflect on how mental health challenges have touched their lives...
I am doing this for every person out there who feels the impact of mental ill health.
Personally, I have had a long journey of mental health challenges. It wasn't until my late 20's when I hit rock bottom with anorexia, depression, anxiety, and an auto-immune condition that I had to seek support...before that, I hardly spoke about anything mental health related and tried to face everything alone, which left me so close to giving up on life.
Now I actually want to be alive, I thrive on connection and I am in love with having this human experience... so I am happy to spend my time and energy supporting this cause that raises awareness and gives the gift of education to young adults.
