The Sponsored Silence: Two Mums, Zero Words, One Bloody Good Cause
Two mums from Marmion Primary who cannot shut up...but WILL. For 20 whole hours. For a cause that actually matters.
If you know us, you know this is basically our villain origin story. Between the two of us we could talk under wet cement, chew the phat for hours on end, and hold an "opinion" or twelve (fiercely passionate is the polite version... opinionated is the other one 🤪🤣). Silence? For 20 hours?? Somebody check on us.
But here's the thing we love even more than talking (and partying 🥳😜): fighting for shit that actually matters.
And what matters to us - deeply - is fixing the mental health support system for our young humans. The one far too many of them are quietly falling through.
We were both signing up for this challenge separately... then looked at each other and went, nah - let's do this together 🙌🏼. (Also, 20 hours of not talking to each other? We're gonna need serious verbal decompression the second we're allowed words again).
So on Saturday 5 September, you'll find us sitting in a 2x2 metre square, on a warehouse floor, alongside 400 other people, for 20 HOURS straight. No talking. No phones. No music. No books. No distractions. Just us and our own heads - which, for two women who never stop, is the actual challenge.
Yes, it'll be hard. But doing hard things for the right reasons is kind of our love language.
Every dollar goes to 20Talk - a mental health charity getting to young people EARLY, before crisis point, and handing them the tools and language we all wish we'd had. Every $200 puts a young person through a full mental health course. That's real. That's tangible. That's a young person getting help sooner.
So here's our ask, and we'd be ever so grateful...
