20 Hours of Silence for Youth Mental Health.
20 Hours of Silence. For Youth Mental Health.
If you’ve ever thought “oh my god will this guy just shut up for five minutes?” — congratulations.
Your moment has arrived.
On 27 June, I’ll be sitting in silence for 20 hours — from 4am to midnight — inside a 2m × 2m square, in a warehouse, alongside around 400 other people.
No talking.
No phone.
No music.
No books.
No distractions.
Just me, my thoughts… and an irresponsible amount of snacks (Most likely an ungodly amount of Natural Confectionary Company snakes and chocolate).
Honestly, this feels like my personal version of psychological warfare — but there’s a very real reason behind it.
Why this matters
Youth mental health in Australia isn’t just a buzzword — the numbers are genuinely confronting.
- Suicide is the leading cause of death for Australians aged 15–24.
- Around 1 in 4 young Australians experience a mental health condition each year.
- Yet only a small proportion of funding goes into prevention — helping people before they reach crisis point.
That last bit matters.
Because prevention is where real change happens.
Not after things fall apart — before.
Where your money actually goes
I’m raising funds for 20Talk, an organisation focused on mental health education and prevention for young people.
Your donation helps fund:
- Mental Health Maintenance workshops that teach practical skills to manage stress, emotions, and mental wellbeing
- Large-scale youth mental health events
- Online resources that reach tens of thousands of young people
To make it concrete:
Every $120 raised can fund a young person to attend a Mental Health Maintenance course.
That’s real impact — not vague awareness slogans.
Why I’m doing this
Because mental health isn’t abstract.
Everyone knows someone who has struggled — or will.
And if sitting quietly in a taped square for 20 hours helps even one young person get support earlier… that feels worth the discomfort.
(Ask me again at hour 17. Oh you can't...no technology and all that.)
How you can help
If you can donate — amazing.
If you can share this — also amazing.
If you just want to sponsor me to suffer in silence — I respect that too.
Every bit helps.
And yes — there will be snacks.
So so many snacks.
If you need any more information, or jus ta chat, reach out. (I'm not sharing my snacks though..... just saying)

Now this I wanna see. (Well done) !!
